I'm considering swapping in a Dirt Tricks TC-3 on my 2021 Husqvarna FE 501S. I've been noticing a ticking noise when idle that I swear wasn't there before. I heard this tensioner might smooth that out, but I'm also wondering if it's really necessary on a bike that's under 2K miles? Is it, though?

The ticking noise is normal, as far as I know, but there's another problem, your bi8ke has 2k miles, which is way too little to develope that kind of a problem. Did the ticking noise started to appear gradually or you just started the bike one day and it was there?

Not necessary, but highly recommended. The stock CCTs are known weak points on these engines, regardless of mileage. The TC-3 offers consistent tension and eliminates that tick for good
